Leighton is the fallen rising star of New Zealand Foreign Affairs. He’s handsome and charming and usually the epitome of clinical, logical diplomacy. He is struggling with new-found doubt and the possibility that he may have an irrational, emotional core – especially when it comes to falling for the wrong woman.

Ambitious and urbane, up-and-coming political animal Leighton Mills was well on the way to a promising career as an aspiring diplomat. Then an unfortunate incident involving too much bubbly; an extremely randy daughter of some minor British Royal; the backseat of the Queen’s limo and a particularly vigilant member of the paparazzi, saw this fledgling career nipped in the bud.

It is after this fall from grace that Leighton finds himself in a new posting, as far away from the centre of power he so craves. Leighton Mills has been shipped north from Wellington to Auckland, as a diplomatic attaché, attached to the consulate of The Most Royal Kingdom of Fe’ausi.
