Suga’s urge to procreate is strong in her – and the richer the man, the stronger that urge. Unfortunately Suga’s urges get the best of her most of the time which means she comes across as a scary, aggressive woman, because that’s what she is.

Suga is the niece of a cousin of the King. She has come to New Zealand to marry a rich white man, and to have many babies to him. She has set about this task with a religious zeal that some might call stalking, but which she maintains is just fulfilling the destiny of her people. Suga is a bit unhinged and a lot scary. She is, officially, the consulate Tourist Affairs liaison.

Kayte Ferguson has starred in a number of feature film and television projects prior to landing the role of Suga in Diplomatic Immunity.

She most recently starred in the Australian telemovie Fatal Contact: Bird Flu in America and the New Zealand films River Queen, The Locals and The Legend of Johnny Lingo.

Her television credits include core cast roles in the series Serial Killers, Spin Doctors, Mataku: The Tree and Good Hands, as a panelist on Maori Television’s Ask Your Auntie and in guest roles on Taonga and Mataku: Blue Line.

Kayte had a lead role in the 2003 short film Poroporoaki and her earlier theatre work in New Zealand includes The Bach and The Bellbird.
